“Race Across the Sky 2010,” the follow-up to the 2009 film “Race Across the Sky,” will be screened at The Sebastian–Vail at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10, as part of the Vail Symposium. It's followed by a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. and a VIP reception at 8:30 p.m.

The legendary Dave Wiens.

The latest film delves into the race entry boom that resulted after the first film captured the imagination of countless mountain bike enthusiasts when Lance Armstrong not only won the race but also set a new course record that seemed unattainable.

This resulted in an increase in entries, including race winner Levi Leipheimer, and a record number of citizen riders, all with their own personal reasons for challenging themselves to this epic test of will, strength and endurance.

The entire race course is above 10,000 feet, and the highest point is around 12,570 feet. Competitors must complete the 100 mile trail in less than 12 hours in order to win the coveted Leadville 100 belt buckle.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the CEO of Life Time Fitness Bahram Akradi, the LT100 2010 winner in the women's category Rebecca Rusch, Lance Armstrong's trainer Chris Carmichael and seven-time LT 100 winner Dave Wiens.

Tickets cost $15, and the VIP reception is $45. Go to www.vailsymposium.org for more information.
