First 'Coffee with a Cop' session to focus on USA Pro Cycling Challenge road closures
Beginning Wednesday, July 27, the Vail Police Department is inviting community members and guests to take part in a new community outreach program, “Coffee with a Cop.” The informal gathering will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. that morning at Yetis Grind in Solaris, 141 E. Meadow Dr. in Vail Village. Participants will receive free regular coffee, courtesy of Yetis Grind.
During the coffee sessions, Police Chief Dwight Henninger and other members of the department will be available to answer questions, offer tips and provide information on topics of interest.
The focus for the first coffee will be the USA Pro Cycling Challenge which comes to Vail on Aug. 25 for the Vail Pass Time Trial. A traffic management plan with information on specific road closures and neighborhood access will be distributed. The Vail venue is expected to draw large crowds given Vail's rich cycling history that has included the Coors Classic, World Cup mountain bike racing and two World Championships.
Chief Henninger says the monthly coffees were created to provide additional opportunities for community conversations. The August coffee will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 at Bart and Yetis, 553 E. Lionshead Circle, in Lionshead.
For more information, or to host an upcoming “Coffee with a Cop,” contact Code Enforcement Officer Moses Gonzales at 970-376-6952 or email mgonzales@vailgov.com.
