John Brown's Body set to play free Budlight Streetbeat concert at Vail's Arrabelle on April 7
John Brown's Body, known for their progressive take on Reggae and pushing their musical boundaries, will take the stage at Arrabelle at Vail Square in Lionshead on Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. for the Vail Valley Foundation's free concert series, Bud Light Street Beat.
Originally hailing from the Northeast, John Brown's Body has a solid foundation of Reggae, but incorporates dub, drums and electro bass to create a sound that's both timeless and futuristic.
The 8-piece band's concerts include heavy rhythms, a three-piece horn section, air tight drums and “the most gorgeous melodies in all of modern Reggae,” backed by a dubbed-out sound engineer who ties it all together to deliver a live show that has audiences buzzing.
The band's modern, spaced-out sound has been described as a “more massive attack than Marley” and “reverent and revolutionary at the same time,” a nod to the group's futuristic take on Reggae and their ability to put a unique twist on the genre.
John Brown's Body has performed with a variety of groups, representing a wide-range of genres including the Dave Matthews Band, The Flaming Lips, STS9, Ozomatli and Jurassic 5.
The 9-concert free Bud Light Street Beat series has two more shows in the lineup this season: Rose Hill Drive on April 14 and the final show on April 21 with arena rock cover band, The Champions. Also taking place on April 21 is the 2011 Grand Prize Giveaway of a brand new Volvo C30T5. Locals of Eagle, Summit and Lake Counties with a valid ID can register to win the car at each Bud Light Street Beat concert.
