Nederland's Elephant Revival plays Vilar Center in Beaver Creek on Sunday

BEAVER CREEK -- Nederland, Colorado's Elephant Revival wowed audience members from teenagers to octogenarians in October when they played the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) for the first time. The neo-acoustic quintet makes their anticipated return to Beaver Creek on Sunday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Elephant Revival plays an intriguing genre of folk music, which shines with sweetly mixed acoustic instruments and layers of harmony vocals. Lead vocalist, Bonnie Paine's sound has been compared to the likes of Natalie Merchant and Grace Slick.

The quintet's all-encompassing approach to music features an array of acoustic instruments, including the washboard, musical saw, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, upright bass and djembe.

In any given show, the quintet can be heard delving into Scottish/Celtic fiddle tunes, original folk pieces, traditional ballads, psychedelic country, indie rock, powerful reggae grooves, jazz standards and an occasional hip-hop beat.

Since playing the VPAC last fall, Elephant Revival released a second studio album Break in the Clouds, toured with jamgrass legends Leftover Salmon and appeared at festivals, clubs, house concerts and theaters from the Rockies to the Ozarks and all points in between. Elephant Revival is slated to perform at Austin Texas' South by Southwest Music Festival next week.

Tickets for Elephant Revival are $20. Choose seats online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 888.920.ARTS(2787) or in person at the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek or Marketplace Box Office in Vail Village.

The VPAC will offer hummer shuttle service from the Marketplace Box Office in Vail Village to the VPAC in Beaver Creek for the Elephant Revival concert on March 13. The cost is $10 per person (round-trip) or $40 for a family of 4 or more (round-trip.) For more information, please call 888.920.ARTS(2787).

The Vilar Performing Arts Center is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For more information on the Vail Valley Foundation, visit www.vvf.org.
