June 24, 2013
Leave your keys at home and don’t spend a cent to fill up the gas tank. Wednesday, June 26 is Colorado Bike to Work Day and local citizens are encouraged to bike ride or walk to work. The ECO Trails Committee, Towns and local businesses, are supporting this statewide event by rewarding citizens who choose to use bicycling or walking to travel to their workplace.

Volunteers will be hosting rest stops between 7 and 9 a.m. at Mayor’s Park in Vail, Malin Pedestrian Bridge in Dowd Junction, Highway 6 roundabout in Avon, Highway 6 intersection in Edwards, Mountain Pedaler in Eagle and Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum. Visitors to the rest stops will be offered refreshments as well as free giveaways for making the effort to ride or walk to work.

Sponsors, donors and volunteers include the ECO Trails Committee, Pedal Power, Town of Vail, Vail Resorts, The Sonnenalp of Vail, Vail Recreation District, Westside Café, City Market, Town of Avon, Starbucks Avon, Moontime Cyclery, Bonjour Bakery, Edwards Village Market, Starbucks Edwards, Northside Café, Red Canyon Café, Mountain Pedaler Eagle, Town of Gypsum, Columbine Market, CDOT, Eagle County and Heidi’s Deli.
