Vail Golf Course Clubhouse remodel plan upheld by town council
The Vail Town Council has voted 6-1 (Kevin Foley against) to uphold an earlier approval by the Planning and Environmental Commission related to an application to remodel the Golf Course Clubhouse. An appeals hearing was held on June 4 where testimony was presented in support of the appeal as well as the appropriateness of the PEC review.
The PEC voted on April 22 to approve, with conditions, the development application submitted on behalf of the Town of Vail, for amendments to an existing conditional use permit for the Vail Golf Course, which authorized the remodel. An appeal had been filed on May 10 on behalf of 8 property owners from the Golf Course neighborhood. The neighbors have also filed a lawsuit against the town claiming the remodel violates an existing covenant on the golf course property.
Voters had approved "expansion and improvement of the clubhouse at the Vail Golf Course and Nordic Center, including multi-use community space" in 2011 as part of the $9.4 million Conference Center Fund reallocation.
