Vail PEC to push back golf course clubhouse review to April 22
The Vail Planning and Environmental Commission will be asked to table a review of the remodel plans for the Vail Golf Course and Nordic Center Clubhouse during its Monday, April 8 meeting. The new review date will take place on Monday, April 22.
Following earlier reviews by the PEC, the project has been modified to address concerns expressed by the commissioners regarding availability of parking and the overall use of the clubhouse.
The changes, approved by the Town Council on March 19 in its role as the project owner, include a reduction in capacity of the banquet room from 200 to 160 people, which is supported by an economic analysis that has been prepared for the town by an independent research firm.
Another adjustment is an agreement to prohibit overflow parking on Sunburst Drive. A third change is a proposal to implement a valet parking program to meet the parking needs of the clubhouse and to ensure compliance with the town’s adopted parking regulations.
Renovation of the Golf Course Clubhouse and Nordic Center was included in a $9.4 million reallocation authorized by voters in 2011. The project has since been challenged in Eagle County District Court by adjacent property owners. The town has been seeking development review approval in anticipation of an eventual resolution.
Companion ordinances to amend the Town Code to establish an allowable building height for golf course clubhouses within the Outdoor Recreation District and to rezone the golf course parking lot from General Use District to Outdoor Recreation District will be considered by the Town Council on May 7 on first reading.
