Youth Foundation's free 'Dinner & Dialogue' series for Eagle County parents kicks off Sept. 18
Parents throughout Eagle County will have a unique opportunity to interact with child development experts, as well as other parents as the Vail Valley Foundation's Youth Foundation joins forces with the Eagle River Youth Coalition to host a series of seven free “Dinner & Dialogue” programs at various locations throughout the valley.
The programs, designed to address topics that are essential to child development, will feature presentations by top professionals, along with open discussion forums. The free series will kick off Tuesday, September 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the WECMRD Fieldhouse in Edwards. The inaugural topic will be Effective Communications, with panelist including Julia Kozusko, Group Leader and Parent Coach for The Incredible Years, and NardaReigel, Group Facilitator for Active Parenting of Teens.“Our goal with Dinner & Dialogue is to bring a community of dedicated parents together to hear from professionals, as well as each other, how to raise healthy households,” explained Susie Davis, Vice President of Education for the Vail Valley Foundation. “Research shows that the earlier and more involved a parent can be in the development of their child, the more powerful the effects.”
In addition to the individual presentations, Dinner & Dialogue evenings will also include free dinner, free childcare and simultaneous Spanish translations. Any parent who attends three or more sessions will also be entered to win $250 in groceries.
All Dinner & Dialogue presentations are scheduled for Tuesdays, with future dates and locations including October 16 (Bullying: Taking an Active Approach) at Eagle Valley High School, November 13 (Understanding Brain Development) at the WECMRD Fieldhouse in Edwards, February 12 (Dating and Healthy Relationships) at Eagle Valley High School, March 12 (Healthy Lifestyles: Fitness and Nutrition) at Eagle Valley Middle School, April 9 (Substance Use and Abuse) at the WECMRD Fieldhouse in Edwards and May 7 (Healthy Lifestyles: Fitness and Nutrition) at the WECMRD Fieldhouse in Edwards.
