Eagle County Animal Services offering half-off deals on cat adoptions

All black cats $13 on 13th of each month

Due to an unusually large number of cats needing homes, Eagle County Animal Services is offering reduced pricing for adoptions. Adult cats can be adopted for half-price, or $35, throughout the month of October. And, all black cat adoptions will be offered for just $13 on the 13th of every month.

Animal Services Director Shawn Markmann says adult cats make a good choice for homes that aren't ready to go through the training that a kitten requires. “Adult cats are a little more laid back and more prone to favoring a lap or blanket, rather than running around the house looking for trouble,” said Markmann.

According to Markmann, black cats are by far the most abundant color of cat the animal shelter receives. “We receive so many black cats that those who want a black cat adopt right away and we end up with several others staying with us for months.”

For information on all animals available for adoption, visit the shelter at 1400 Fairgrounds Road in Eagle anytime from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Or, view photos and more at www.eaglecounty.us/animal.
