Police say missing Broomfield man biked off Vail Mountain, took bus to Pennsylvania
Sheriff may seek restitution for search costs
Authorities today located a missing Broomfield man in Pennsylvania after he left his SUV on Vail Mountain, mountain biked down and faked his disappearance by catching a Greyhound bus out of state.
Now Eagle County Sheriff's Office officials are considering billing Justyn Lamarine, 37, for the costs associated with a search conducted by deputies and Vail Mountain Rescue. Lamarine was later located in Arronsburg, Pa.
Police say Lamarine is wanted on a warrant from the Broomfield Police Department for failure to comply because he did not register as a sex offender.
Lamarine was last seen by family members on Monday, Aug. 8, in Fairplay. He told them he was driving to Denver to take care of some errands, police said. His Ford Expedition was found four days later on Mill Creek Road on Vail Mountain.
