Coroner IDs man killed in vehicle-pedestrian accident in West Vail
The Eagle County Coroner’s Office Wednesday identified a man who was killed in an early-morning vehicle-pedestrian accident as Zachary Zolin, 24.
Zolin had been living with a relative in West Vail at the time of the accident. The cause and manner of his death will be determined following an autopsy.
Vail police officers were dispatched to the scene of the accident on South Frontage Road West near the Intermountain neighborhood at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday.
When they got there, officers found Zolin unresponsive along the side of the road. He was transported to Vail Valley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
According to police investigators, Zolin appeared to be walking in the roadway when he was struck by a 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and contacted 911.
Police are continuing to investigate.
