Woman found in Eagle River died of gunshot to chest
Coroner identifies victim as Stephanie Brantley of Gypsum
The Eagle County coroner on Monday identified the body of woman found in the Eagle River on Friday as 40-year-old Stephanie Brantley of Gypsum.
Brantley's body was spotted Friday afternoon by a fisherman on a sandbar in the river behind the Gypsum Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis on Monday said the cause of Brantley's death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The manner of her death is still under investigation by the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.
Eagle County Sheriff’s deputies, Gypsum Fire Protection District and Eagle County Ambulance District officials recovered Brantley's body.
