Sheriff lifts stage 1 fire ban in Eagle County
Citing the recent wet weather, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office today lifted the stage 1 fire ban beginning Friday.
Effective 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, the fire restrictions have been rescinded for all unincorporated, non-federal land in Eagle County.
"Recent rainfall and cooler temperatures have reduced the danger of wildfire," sheriff's officials said Thursday. "However, people are strongly encouraged to be extremely vigilant, as the danger for wildfire is always present."
Sheriff's officials urged caution when starting and extinguishing campfires, disposing of lighted cigarettes and other activities involving the use of fire or sparks.
