Package of cookies, auto parts prompt Vail Police to shut down Vail Village parking structure
A little before 2 p.m. today, Vail Police shut down the Vail Village parking structure and the transportation center for nearly two and half hours because of what turned out to be a package of cookies left beside one vehicle and auto parts left on the seat of another vehicle, which was left running.
Here's the town of Vail press release on the incident:
At 1:58 p.m. today, Vail Police responded to the Vail Village parking structure/Transportation Center on two unrelated suspicious incidents. The first involved a vehicle left running on the second level parking area which had suspicious items in the cab. The items were determined to be used auto parts and the vehicle was not deemed a threat. The vehicle was removed from the parking structure.
The second incident involved a package left beside a separate vehicle on the third level parking area. Vail Police were able to contact the owner of the vehicle and determined the package contained only cookies.
