Sheriff's office identifies man who died skiing at Vail this week
A man who died while skiing at Vail on Tuesday has been identified as John Sadl, 37, of St. Louis, Missouri, according to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.
Sadl was skiing on Berries run on the front side of Vail Tuesday morning when he was involved in some kind of "ski incident." Sheriff's officials said he was wearing a helmet at the time.
The Eagle County Coroner's Office still has not provided a cause of death in the case.
Sadl's death was the third skier fatality so far this season at Vail, including one on opening day in November and an avalanche death last month on Prima Cornice.
According to the Denver Post, a 72-year-old skier died at Keytone ski area in Summit County today -- the third fatality at that resort this season and the 11th overall in Colorado. The record number of deaths in Colorado (17) occurred during the 2007-08 ski season.
