Gather the kids, stretch the legs and enjoy a morning of friendly competition at the annual Oktoberfest Fun Run benefiting the Children's Garden of Learning this Sunday, Sept. 18 in Vail Village.

“The Oktoberfest Fun Run is a great way to start the final day of the Oktoberfest celebration in Vail,” said James Deighan of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the producer of Oktoberfest. “It gives parents, kids and everyone interested in participating the chance to come together and celebrate the spirit and energy of Oktoberfest while benefitting a great cause.”

The Oktoberfest Fun Run, presented by First Bank and Vail Summit Orthopaedics, will begin promptly at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning at Check Point Charlie on Gore Creek Dr. in Vail Village. The course will run along a similar route as it has in years past, heading east from the start through Vail Village toward the Vail Golf Course and finishing back at Check Point Charlie.

Event categories include a competitive 10K, a 5K run/walk and a kids' 1K in which strollers are welcome. Pre-registration is just $20 for adults and $10 for kids and is now open at www.vail-oktoberfest.com. On-site registration will be available the day of the race from 8 – 8:45 a.m. and will be $25 for adults and $10 for kids.

The first 200 adult participants to register for the race will receive complimentary t-shirts and all participating children will receive a complimentary t-shirt and a goody bag.

The Oktoberfest Fun Run is part of Vail Oktoberfest, the annual celebration of the arrival of autumn held in Vail Village Sept. 16-18. For a complete schedule of events and to pre-register for the Oktoberfest Fun Run, visit www.vail-oktoberfest.com.

Vail Oktoberfest is presented by Beck's, Town of Vail and Jagermeister and sponsored in part by the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail, Arrowhead Water, Klement's Sausage Company, Sports Authority, Loki, Ace Hardware, A Sterling Affair, Vail Psychic, Vail Daily and KZYR the Zephyr.
