Summer season kicks off Saturday at Beaver Creek

Memorial Day weekend signals the start of the summer season at Beaver Creek with the seventh annual Blues, Brews and Barbeque Festival May 28-29. Come out and enjoy the first taste of summer with delicious barbeque, microbrews and live music throughout the village.

Scenic chairlift rides begin on the Centennial Express Lift which will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends only May 28-30 (including Memorial Day) and June 4-5. Daily lift operations will take place June 11-Sept. 5. In addition to scenic chairlift rides, the outdoor grill at Spruce Saddle Lodge will serve up lunch each day that the lift is open.

*Children aged 12 and under ride the lift for free when accompanied by an adult. Up to three kids can ride free per adult. Spring season pass purchasers for the 2011-2012 season will receive complimentary scenic lift rides and may purchase a bike haul ticket.

For opening weekend Beaver Creek will offer hiking on three trails accessed from the Village including 5 Senses, Creekside, and Village Loop. Due to near-record snowfall this season, additional hiking trails on the mountain and all biking trails will open as quickly as possible and as conditions permit.

Guests are reminded to stay on marked trails and obey all signage. Bikes and ski or snowboard gear will not be permitted on the chairlift this weekend.

Additional summer activity offerings include the rebound trampoline, climbing wall, mini golf and complimentary kids' activities consisting of western arts and crafts and games during the Blues, Brews and Barbecue event.

The Beaver Creek Golf Club is open for public play through June14. Rounds are $89 for 18 holes and $63 for nine holes. Juniors ages 7-18 can play for free with a paying adult Monday-Thursday (one free junior round offered per paid adult), and can play 18 holes Friday – Sunday for $65. A special twilight rate is available for all players after 3 p.m. for $60. Golfers who show proof of Eagle or Summit County residence can play 18 holes for $68 or nine holes for $55. All fees are per person and include carts and range balls.
