Von Trapp Children featured at Vilar Center in 'Family Night Out' celebration at Beaver Creek

Adults and children alike will delight in next week's concert with the von Trapp Children at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in Beaver Creek. The famed singing siblings will take the stage on Thursday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m. The concert will also celebrate “Family Night Out” with the VPAC offering one complimentary children's ticket with every adult ticket purchased for the performance.

More than forty-five years after the movie “The Sound of Music,” captured the hearts of millions, the von Trapp family legacy continues with Sofia, Melanie, Amanda and Justin von Trapp. They are the great-grandchildren of Captain von Trapp, father of the famous singing family whose real life story was captured in the Academy-Award winning film, adapted from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical.

The von Trapp Children, whose effervescent voices mesh the way only a family's can, will perform a variety of folk and classical songs from various European and American traditions, including “Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “Amazing Grace,” as well as timeless pieces “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Me” and other audience favorites from “The Sound of Music.”

Tickets for the von Trapp children's concert are $32 for children and $46 for adults or ticket buyers can enter the code FAMILY in the promo code box at vilarpac.org for one complimentary children's ticket with every adult ticket purchased. For more info, visit vilarpac.org, call 888.920.ARTS(2787) or go to the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek or Marketplace Box Office in Vail Village.

The Vilar Performing Arts Center is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For more information on the Vail Valley Foundation, visit www.vvf.org.
